Richard W. Unger, AICP

Strategic Statewide Planning
Richard Unger is a dynamic, quality oriented planning professional with significant
achievements resulting from over 30 years of project development and management
experience in both public and private sector land planning. Rich is a Fellow
of the American Institute of Certified Planners (FAICP). Rich leads MSCW's Planning
Team. He is a problem solver with proven ability to develop consensus among
divergent interests. Rich's expertise includes developing and implementing community
planning and development regulations and public policy related to innovative
community-building initiatives.
A leader in the professional planning community, Rich has been active in the American Planning Association (APA) for many years and is currently the APA Florida Chapter President. He is a Founding Member of the Florida Chapter of the Congress for New Urbanism and a member of the Urban Land Institute. Rich is a past co-instructor of Land Use Planning Law at the University Central Florida and has served as an APA Orlando-Metro Section AICP Exam instructor. He has served as Award Judge for the Nashville Regional Planning Area "Developments of Excellence" program and, in 1987, when he could be counted as a young man, was honored with the National "Outstanding Young Men of America" Award.
Rich attended Iowa State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Geology.
